Port Royal Plantation

Located on the northeastern end of Hilton Head Island, Port Royal is a 1,000-acre private beachfront community with three miles of the widest beaches on the Island. Port Royal lies along the “heel” of Hilton Head and faces both the Atlantic Ocean and the Port Royal Sound. Port Royal Plantation was the landmass that Captain William Hilton first sighted when he “discovered” Hilton Head. The waterfront views here are the grandest on Hilton Head Island.

Developed in 1968, Port Royal was the second Hilton Head Island community. The residential beachfront community contains only single-family homes, and home sites range from ¼ acre to over an acre. There are no commercial developments past the Plantation’s residential security gates. Additionally, no short-term rentals are allowed. Here, every home is a short walk to the beach.

In addition to being known for its panoramic beach vistas, Port Royal boasts one of the most prestigious golf and tennis facilities on the East Coast. Right outside The Plantation are three 18-hole golf courses. One of the courses alternates monthly as a private course for residents. The Planters Row Course was the site of the Hilton Head Seniors International Golf Tournament, and is rated as one of the top fifty courses in the Carolinas by Golf Reporter Magazine. Adjacent to the course is the recently redesigned Robbers Row course.

Port Royal’s Racquet Club is listed by Tennis Magazine as one of the “50 greatest US Tennis Resorts.” Port Royal is also adjacent to the Westin Hotel—an exquisite Five Star Hotel.
